The Blessings Of Obedience

Text: Gen. 12:1&4

“The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you”… So Abram left as the LORD had told him…”
Obedience to the instruction of God is very crucial to the release of our blessings in life. Raudy Smith said, “How many blessings do we forgo because the obedient faith necessary to receive them is never demonstrated”. Abraham, in our chosen text, obeyed the instruction of God and God blessed him and his descendants of which you and I are partakers of that blessing whereby we sing “Abraham's blessings are mine…” He was asked to sacrifice the child of his old age which he did and see what God says in Gen. 22:1-18, “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice".
Obedience is a deliberate action; there is someone talking to you or who gives an instruction. He/ she expects a response from you. When the response is positive, it is called obedience and when otherwise, it is disobedience to the one giving the instructions. We stand a better chance when we abide by both divine and natural laws. Whatever God forbids or approves is for our good. God can never be the loser if you go violating His instructions. Deliberate or ignorant violation of God's word brings stress, crisis, sickness and several other grave consequences. For instance, God did not accept the excuse tendered by King Saul. For not totally destroying Amalek and the entire Amalekites. Ultimately, Saul lost the throne and died. 1 Sam. 15:22 ff
God said in Isaiah 1:19 that if we are willing and obedient, we shall eat the best from the land and also in Job 36:11, if they obey him and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.
NOTE: “Our salvation does not depend on blessings and obedience only but definitely if we obey, we shall be blessed". Deu. 28:1-4. Blessing is a reward of obedience. Moreso, there are many benefits of obeying God such as greater heavenly reward II Cor. 5:9-10. Deeper walking with God. 1John 2:24; Increase in the assurance of salvation 1John 2:3-4, 2Pet. 1:10; Helps our witnessing life 1Pet. 2:12 and lastly, obedience allows the love of God to grow in our hearts. John 14:15.
In conclusion, you need to ask yourself why you are still in that problem. Could it be that there are certain instructions given to you and you have not obeyed or your obedience has not been complete? You need to check yourself. The miracle and blessing you need is right beside you; just do what JESUS has asked of you and you will see your miracle and blessing being delivered without further delay.
Shalom.
